2009 E-Conference

The Idaho Lifelong Learning Association's 2009 Conference will be our first E-Conference. This year's Conference is titled "Looking Backward, Living Forward: Embracing Change in Lifelong Learning" The Conference this year will be on October 15-16.

Idaho Lifelong Learning Association has decided to undertake an E-conference this year to accommodate members in the current economic climate. We will be using an Elluminate platform to provide the conference to you. You will receive a link to “join” the conference. Presentations are provided via the internet and can be viewed from your PDA, laptop, or big-screen computer. This is an exciting approach to teaching and learning, and we look forward to you joining us.

Rosemary S. Caffarella

Keynote Speaker: Rosemary S. Caffarella

Rosemary Caffarella believes her role as an educator is to assist learners to critically examine and reflect on how they define knowledge, learning and education. How educators view these concepts, coupled with their own values and the context in which they find themselves, have a direct effect on how they view other people, construct learning and teaching situations, and act as instructors, program planners, and leaders. Completing this process requires learners and educators to be intrigued by what is unknown to them, open to what they have never before considered as real knowledge and caring for people and the environment in which they live.

Caffarella’s concentration areas are:
Adult and Extension Education; Continuing Professional Education in Health Care; Program Planning for Adults; International Adult Education and Program Development; International Breast Cancer Education in Low and Middle Income Nations.

Dr. Caffarella’s work is about honoring cultural roots while embracing change. She says,
“My teaching focus mirrors closely my work in outreach and research. More specifically areas I teach include learning in adulthood; "Non-Western" ways of learning and knowing; planning programs for adult learners in national and international settings; and development in international settings.”
